Throwback Thursday: Noted Fish Biologist Tours Facilities

Dr. Daniel Benetti, one of the nation’s leading marine biologists, visited Global Blue Technologies’ innovative aquaculture campus in early January, 2017. Dr. Benetti is Director of Aquaculture at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. His 30 years in the field focused on wholesome, environmentally sustainable and economically viable seafood production through mariculture of cobia, seriola (yellowtail jacks), snapper, tuna, mahi mahi, pompano, Nassau grouper, and flounder. He’s a consultant to aquaculture ventures on five continents. He’s currently consulting on hybrid grouper with Aqquua Thailand.

During his visit, Dr. Benetti sampled GBT’s Copano Blues brand shrimp then viewed the technological improvements that took them from hatchery to dinner plate faster, larger, more sustainably, and equally important, tasting far better than any other. He was impressed at the physical setup of the Perciformes facility as well as the technical breakthroughs in culturing black cod/Sablefish achieved by the company’s resident marine biologists.
